PHP produced the Interpretation Plan for the Plymouth Sound National Marine Park (completed August 2023). The interpretation plan provides the concepts, narratives and interpretation mapping for the Plymouth Sound National Marine Park. The UK’s first and only National Marine Park is a 21st century space. The plan presents the National Marine Park as a cultural landscape. It encompasses the water, the waterfront and the waterways of the city. It also embraces the people and places defined by the sea over time. We tell the story of Plymouth Sound’s internationally recognised natural and cultural heritage – the marine and the maritime. The plan recognises the urgent need to address climate change and the decline in biodiversity as well as to value and preserve our marine and maritime cultural heritage. We also understand the role of people in that process and purpose. It is time to catalyse our relationship with the sea and to encourage better care offor it.
